Welcome to Green Express, the World's First Human-Powered Train!
Concept
- To promote reductions in atmospheric pollution caused by fossil fuel consumption used for personal enjoyment & public transportation.
- To develop a practical train of one or more 2-3 seat cycle powered carriages in which the passengers assist in generating the motive power.
History
In mid December 2007, with the help of two representatives of Ontario’s Human Powered Transportation Association, we conceived the idea of developing and fabricating a cycle driven 12-15 passenger vehicle. Members of the Association began work on the project in early January in hopes that we would have a prototype completed by May so that trials could begin shortly thereafter.
Trials
This spring, the train operated on a route of several outdoor events; the trial results were very positive. The Green Express proved to be exceptionally popular and the train functioned as per plan. The public, kids, adults and teens as well the media have enthusiastically received the train; everyone loves to cycle. Fun Powered!
Operation
Conko Green Inc., one of the Conklin Group of Companies is taking The Express on the road. It will be leased to Fairs, Festivals, Exhibitions, Charities, green communities, Amusement Parks or any venue that wants an environmentally friendly transportation system. The Express will generate much fun and interest whether it is used as a parade vehicle, for transportation or just for FUN. It has many different uses including publicity. The media love it!
Booking
The Green Express is now taking bookings for the fall of 2008 and all of 2009.
